2017 CFB Week 1 Recap

The first weeks of the 2017 college football season are in the books. Let’s take a look back at how teams from the Pac-12 and Big Ten performed.

The Cardinal flew to Sydney, Australia and took control of the game against Rice early. The offense put up 656 total yards en route to the victory.

New Beaver quarterback Jake Luton had a solid debut throwing for 304 yards and two touchdowns in the opening week loss to Colorado State.

The first Big Ten Conference game of the year provided some sparks, but a strong second half from the Buckeyes was too much for Indiana.

New Golden Gopher head coach P.J. Fleck started his career with a victory behind the receiving effort from Tyler Johnson who hauled in six receptions for 141 yards and one touchdown.

The defending Foster Farms Bowl Champions started the season off with a victory. New receiver Darren Carrington II notched 10 receptions for 129 yards and one score for his new team.

Kobe Williams’ 49-yard pick-six early in the fourth quarter ended up being the game-winning touchdown for the Sun Devils over the upset-minded Aggies.

The Buffaloes got the better of their in-state rival with a dominant defensive performance.

Heisman hopeful Saquon Barkley rushed for 172 yards and two touchdowns while the Nittany Lions rolled to a 52-point victory.

The Wolverines defense didn’t allow a touchdown in their 16 point victory over the Gators in Arlington, Texas.

In his first game as head coach of the Boilermakers, Jeff Brohm almost lead his team to an upset victory.

The Terrapins went into to Austin and spoiled new head coach Tom Herman’s debut behind running back Ty Johnson’s 132 yards and one touchdown.

In head coach Willie Taggart’s first game as the head man for the Ducks, his team put up an Autzen Stadium record 77 points en route to a lopsided victory.

The Cougars defense pitched a shutout and Luke Falk threw for 311 yards and three touchdowns in the team’s big win.

With 2:06 left in the fourth quarter, running back Mike Epstein scored from one-yard out to lead the Fighting Illini to victory, clinched by a last-second FG block.

The Hawkeye defense was able to keep the Cowboys out of the end zone during the team’s 21-point victory.

Quarterback Brian Lewerke threw for 250 yards and three touchdowns in the Spartan win.
