Levi’s® Stadium is set to open in August 2014. The stadium will be the new home of the San Francisco 49ers, and will also serve as one of the world’s best outdoor sports and entertainment venues. The $1.2 billion venue will have 1.85 million square feet, seat approximately 68,500 and will feature an expected 165 luxury suites and 8,500 club seats.
The stadium was designed by HNTB and is being built by Turner/Devcon for the Santa Clara Stadium Authority. The structure takes advantage of our Silicon Valley climate and will be predominantly open and airy, while also environmentally friendly.
The new stadium in Santa Clara is the next generation of stadium design. One of the most unique features of the facility is the green roof atop the suite tower on the west side of the stadium. The three solar bridges, connecting the main parking area to the stadium, will include hundreds of solar panels.
When the gates of Levi’s® Stadium open in August 2014, the stadium will be the first United States professional football stadium to have achieved LEED Gold certification.
Visitors and guests may view a live dashboard display featuring current energy measurements, water and air monitors, and other dynamic green features as the building operates daily.
Through partnerships with local, national and international technology providers, the stadium will be a showcase for innovation. Featuring stadium-wide WiFi capability, mobile connectivity, IPTV, and colossal HD video boards measuring over 13,000 square feet, no one will miss a minute of the action!
The stadium will be anchored on its corners by spacious entry plazas, creating relaxed gathering places for fans and visitors. The commercial space along Tasman Avenue will be open to the public year-round and will be home to the 49ers Team Store, the 49ers Museum Presented by Sony, and Michael Mina’s Bourbon Steak & Pub.
Levi’s® Stadium will be a multi-purpose facility with the flexibility to host a wide range of events, including domestic and international soccer, college football, motocross, concerts and various civic events, and will be expandable for major events such as Super Bowl 50 in February of 2016.
