CFB Week 12 Recap

The second-to-last weekend of the season provided plenty of fireworks in the Pac-12 and Big Ten. Two Top-25 teams fell and some major senior day performances stole the show.

Ohio State (10-1, 7-1) CB Gareon Conley picked off Michigan State (3-8, 1-7) QB Tyler O’Connor with 1:30 left in the fourth quarter to seal the victory for the Buckeyes.

The Wisconsin (9-2, 6-2) rushing attack accounted for 221 yards and four touchdowns in the rout of Purdue (3-8, 1-7).

Michigan (10-1, 7-1) RB De’Veon Smith rushed for 158 yards and two touchdowns to help lead the Wolverines over Indiana (5-6, 3-5). Indiana needs to beat rival Purdue for the Old Oaken Bucket to be bowl eligible.

Penn State (9-2, 7-1) outgained Rutgers (2-9, 0-8) 549 yards to 87 as the Nittany Lions had no trouble turning back the Scarlet Knights.

Senior RB Terrell Newby rushed for 98 yards and three touchdowns to lead Nebraska (9-2, 6-2) to the victory over Maryland (5-6, 2-6) in his final game at Memorial Stadium. In order to become bowl eligible, Maryland must beat Rutgers next week.

Iowa (7-4, 5-3) RB LeShun Daniels Jr. rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns in the shutout victory over Illinois (3-8, 2-6).

Minnesota (8-3, 5-3) LB Blake Cashman was all over the field to help limit the Northwestern (5-6, 4 -4) offense to only 12 points in the Golden Gophers victory. Northwestern needs to defeat Illinois this coming week to reach bowl eligibility.

Oregon (4-7, 2-6) QB Justin Herbert connected with WR Darren Carrington on a 17-yard touchdown pass with two seconds remaining to upset 12th ranked Utah (8-3, 5-3).

Colorado (9-2, 7-1) QB Sefo Liufau threw for 345 yards, rushed for 108 and scored three touchdowns to lead the Buffaloes over a stout Washington State (8-3, 7-1) team.

Stanford (8-3, 6-3) RB Christian McCaffrey rushed for 284 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Cardinal over Cal (4-7, 2-6) in the 119th meeting between these two rivals.

Washington (10-1, 7-1) QB Jake Browning threw for 338 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Huskies over Arizona State (5-6, 2-6). The Sun Devils must defeat bitter in-state rival Arizona to become bowl eligible.
