On December 10, 2015, the San Francisco 49ers announced that the organization will host the 13th annual Cal-Hi Sports Bay Area Awards banquet at Levi’s® Stadium on Monday, May 23, 2016. The awards banquet, which has awarded over $250,000 in scholarships to local student-athletes since its inception, will feature 80 of the Bay Area’s top high school prospects.

In alignment with 49ers Youth Football initiatives to encourage leadership development through sports, local student-athletes will receive awards such as Cal-Hi Sports Bay Area Players of the Year, Play of the Week winners, Volunteer Award winners and Spirit of Achievement Scholarship winners. Recent honorees include Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon, Olympic Figure Skater Polina Edmunds, Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz, San Francisco Giants infielder Brandon Crawford and Oakland Athletics first baseman Mark Canha.

“We are proud to partner with Cal-Hi Sports Bay Area to help honor these bright and talented student-athletes,” said 49ers COO Al Guido. “As an organization, we are always looking to engage our community in new ways, while encouraging students to fulfill their potential.”
