Three Fans at Earthquakes-Sounders Game Offer First Impressions of Levi’s® Stadium

Sunday, August 3, 2014

The new home of the San Francisco 49ers opened with a soccer game on Saturday night, but football fans came out in droves. There were many red and white jerseys among the mostly 48,765 blue-clad ticket-holders who saw a 1-0 San Jose Earthquakes victory over the Seattle Sounders FC. LevisStadium.com caught up with three of them to get their first impressions…

Eric Casillas | 26 | San Jose, Calif.

“Amazing. Definitely an upgrade from Candlestick Park. I love it. Everything is more open, more modern, more accessible. Everything is ten times better.

“The seating is awesome. The seating at The ‘Stick was so hard to get to. The seating here is easy. I’m in the south end zone, and it’s perfect. We get the (videoboard) view on the north side and we can see both ends of the stadium.

“I’m a 49ers fan. I got a ticket for the Earthquakes game and for the Chargers game on Aug. 24. I’ve been a fan since I was born. It’s family history.”

Diego Malaga | 13 | San Jose

“It’s amazing to be here in the new stadium. New legends are going to be born here like Colin Kaepernick and Michael Crabtree. It’s exciting to see the future of the team before they even play their first game here.

“I loved Candlestick, but to be in a place like this is pretty cool. I know great things will happen here.”

Mari Chavez | Winters, Calif.

“It’s amazing. It exceeds all the expectations, it’s great. The space, everything. There’s a lot of walking room, there’s a lot of restrooms, the seats are actually comfortable. I’m blown away.

“We’ve been spending the whole time walking around instead of watching the game. It’s such an incredible experience to see the finished product.”
