It’s hard not to forget about the future home of the San Francisco 49ers, Levi’s® Stadium. The billion dollar building set to open in 2014 looms large over the team’s Santa Clara practice fields every day.

For those not around the 49ers facility, Levi’s® Stadium has been receiving plenty or web traffic and airtime. The latest buzz on the project comes from the mobile app currently being developed by the 49ers. The app is being designed to augment the game day experience for all visitors to the stadium.

Although the app is currently being developed, the 49ers plan to allow fans to personalize their own game day experience with access to exclusive team content via their own handheld devices. Some concepts being explored at this time include facilitating in-seat purchasing of concessions and merchandise, as well as the ability to access in-stadium camera feeds for various video angles of the game. The team also is working to make the stadium a cashless and ticketless venue.

The app was discussed in a recent episode of “Pardon the Interruption.”

“It’s evolutionary, of course it comes from the Silicon Valley,” host Tony Kornheiser said. Co-host Michael Wilbon went so far as to call the 49ers efforts “ingenious.”
